Our story

From marine researcher to ocean storyteller

My journey began in the lecture halls of the University of Cape Town, where I immersed myself in marine biology and oceanography. From there, my passion led me into the field, researching sharks at the legendary Aliwal Shoal and studying manta rays in the vibrant waters of Mozambique. That scientific background gave me a deep understanding of our oceans and their ecosystems.

But my path took a beautiful turn. I realised my most powerful tool for conservation wasn’t just my research, it was my ability to share the ocean’s stories. I became an ocean storyteller, using my skills to bring the wonders of the underwater world to life.

Wild Mermaid Expeditions was born from this evolution. My mission is to make the ocean an accessible, empowering space for adventure seekers, every expedition designed as a transformative experience where you can hone your underwater photography and join a community passionate about protecting our planet.

As your trip leader, I bring a unique blend of scientific knowledge and a deep-seated love for adventure, hardworking, adaptable and self-motivated, I’ve built this company on leadership, communication and a profound love for the ocean.

When I’m not leading expeditions or creating content, you’ll find me exploring the kelp forests near my home or conquering the tallest mountains on a trail run. My goal is simple: to share my passion with you and create a space where you feel the same joy and wonder in the ocean that I do. I can’t wait to welcome you into the Wild Mermaid community. 🧜‍♀️
